A class action lawsuit has been launched in the Federal Court of Australia regarding Google’s alleged wrongdoing in the digital advertising industry.
The legal action is being pursued on behalf of website and app publishers based in Australia, who claim to have incurred damages due to Google’s exploitation of its dominant position in the advertising technology supply chain.
As in other legal proceedings and investigations occurring worldwide in countries such as the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and France, this class action alleges that Google is actively using its dominance to preference its own services.
Google disadvantages competitors and prevents them from competing on a level playing field to provide publishers and advertisers with a better, more competitive service that supports their business growth.
All lawsuits allege that Google has secured a dominant position in the digital advertising market by implementing a range of tools and platforms that cater to both the supply and demand aspects of the marketplace.
Individuals or businesses that own a website or application and utilize Google’s advertising technology to sell ad space are eligible to join the group. Their involvement in this initiative will remain confidential, ensuring that Google is unaware of their participation.
The class action is being conducted by Piper Alderman and funded by Woodsford.
